Dr. John, an original founder of Kansas City United (formerly the Attack Youth Soccer Club), now serves as its primary Director of Coaching. A member of the Nigerian National and Olympic Teams, Emilio came to the United States to attend Quincy College, where he was the runner up for the Herman Trophy, presented to the outstanding College Soccer player in the United States. After college Emilio played professionally, settling in Kansas City after his professional career ended with the Kansas City Comets. Emilio has served as a team doctor for the Kansas City Wizards and the Kansas City Attack. Emilio currently coaches the Kansas City United 94/95 teams and he coached three of the original Club’s teams: the 80/81 Attack, 84/85 Attack and the 85/86 Attack, all State Champions whose accomplishments are detailed in our Alumni section. Emilio has also coached twelve players from Kansas City to be selected for U.S. Youth National teams, including six from Kansas City United, among them his son William who was a member of the US Under 20 National Team, played for the MLS Wizards and is now playing professional soccer in Europe. Dr. John has been honored as the Kansas State Youth Soccer Coach of the Year for 2011. Emilio lives with his wife, Annette, in Overland Park.
