|QUALIFIED TO PLAY IN REGIONAL PRESIDENTS CUP
Disappointing first round losses knocked the U16 and U17 boys out of contention for a State Cup Title. Both teams, however, went undefeated in the consolation bracket to place third in the State.
The U16 Boys, coached by Emilio John, gained a measure of revenge in the process. After losing a physical game to Kansas Rush in the opening round of the tournament, the Kansas City United U16’s played Rush in the third round of the consolation bracket, defeating them 3-0.
The U17’s, coached by Jose Velasquez, lost 1-0 to the eventual State Cup Finalists in the first round, and then went undefeated and unscored on to take Third Place.
Both team will now travel to South Bend, Indiana to compete in the Regional Presidents Cup competition, held in mid-June. If they win through against similar level teams from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri and Iowa they will qualify for the National Tournament, held in mid-July.
The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for top-level teams who did not qualify for further advancement in the National Championship Series, allowing them to experience and prepare for an eventual national title.
