newspic4We had our U9 through U12 boys teams compete in the Emerald Cup.  The weather was miserable.  Snow with wind chills in the teens made for a tough weekend.

Our U12 Kansas City United Attack boys, coached by Dalio Mercado, took second place in the blizzard.  Going 3-0 in the prelimiary rounds they fell, 2-0, to Quincy United Black. Here is the picture of the “award ceremony.”

Our U9 Spirit boys, coached by Shawn Slack, went 2-1 as did the U10 Kansas City United Attack, coached by Jimmy Perez.  Both played in the highest division, missing out on advancing to the finals by a single goal.

The U11 Kansas City United Rangers, coached by Jimmy Perez, suffered a heartbreaking weekend.  Placed in a six-team gold bracket they played the No. 1 seed in the other pool and beat them 3-2.  They tied the top team and crushed the other team in their bracket for a record of 2-0-1.  But they did not get the chance to advance to the finals.  The team they tied had a better goal difference because they played a weaker team in their cross over.  As a result that team advanced out of their pool and the team they beat advanced out of the other pool.  Tough to tie and beat the teams that go to the finals, go undefeated, and have to watch.
