The end of the month of May brought more success for Kansas City United Teams.
Beginning with the Kansas City Invitational – a tournament in which the Club has had at least one champion since 1994 – the Kansas City United Rangers U13 Boys, coached by Mike Popoola, went undefeated in the primary rounds, tallying 10 goals to their opponents’ one.
In the final they met the Harambe U13 Boys, and won a closely-matched game, 2-1, to secure the Championship.
In the U14 Boys Gold Division, the Kansas City United Magia squad, coached by Jose Velasquez, fell in the final round, taking second place to Nemesis FC from Parkville, Mo., 1-0. It was a disappointing loss. In the first round of the tournament Magia defeated the Nemesis 3-2, but we could not pull off the win the second time around.
A week later two other teams from the Club competed in the Salsa Cup in Missouri. The U10 Kansas City United Alliance boys, coached by Jose Zarate, took second place. In the U17 boys division, the Kansas City United Fire boys, coached by Mike Popoola, advanced to the semi finals, only to fall a goal short.
